The SAF Competitions began in 2007 with one goal in mind: to be the best women's physique events in the world. The competitions were created by Doug Schneider and Karen Fanas of SeriousAboutFitness.com, and they personally oversee every competition that happens today.

To accomplish this goal of being the best, SAF competitions had to be significantly different than any other competition out there. We believe we've achieved this goal by doing the following things:

Every SAF Competition is held in a top-quality venue and the stage is tastefully decorated to complement the competitors onstage. What's more, we often decorate the stage with the images of our competitors. We're proud of our SAF Elite team and we want to show them to the world!

We work hard to provide competitors with great prizes and we do our best to ensure that everyone who competes, regardless of how they place, has a positive experience. Not everyone can win, but certainly everyone can compete and have fun.

We also work tirelessly to provide expert judging that is fair to all competitors onstage, and we conduct the contest so that no matter whether it's a person's 1st, 5th, or 50th time competing, they stand the same chance of winning if they truly deserve to.

But we really feel three things make our competitions unique and special.

First is the exposure that our winners receive. They are featured in SeriousAboutFitness.com as well as print magazines like Inside Fitness and others, and their images are showcased in advertising and promotional material that's seen worldwide. Our winners become superstars.

The next thing has to do with the way our winners our portrayed. We feel that in order to portray a positive image of female health and fitness, our winners must be showcased in the same way. Our winners receive broad media exposure that's always tasteful and inspiring, making them true role models that other women can look up to and following.

The final thing is the friendship and camaraderie among our competitors. The competitions are serious and you can be sure that every person on the stage wants to win, but there's a shared level of respect, trust, and friendship that all the competitors have that keeps the atmosphere positive and inviting.
